Hello readers, I am back from Utah ... refreshed and ready to face the springtime roller coaster back in Rico.
Marlene had mentioned in last weeks article that we left out of Rico hauling the fifth wheel in a white out snowstorm hell-bent for warmer weather. Good news we found it! Outside of Blanding in Comb Wash, we found dry ground, sunshine and huge smiles on my childrens faces. My sister Jenny, her daughter Kaitlin, and family friends Marilyn and Gerry Griebel also joined us. We had a wonderful time. We hiked and hiked, explored beautiful country and soaked in the essence of springtime in the high desert.
The day we left, my daughter Addie and I went for our last hike in Utah before hitting the road, and we actually were feeling overheated, of all things. I think it must not take much heat to affect us high-altitude, cold-weather-bearing, long-winter insane mountain folk. It was difficult to leave, and for the reason that if you dont like the weather here in Colorado, wait five minutes. It was so cold when we got home, it actually snowed. I was very tempted to hook onto that fifth wheel, and head back to where we came from. Unfortunately Wyatt, our son, had to be in school on Monday.
Today is a beautiful day here in the Rockies. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the snow is melting so quickly. I worked out in my yard all morning long, raking and pulling last falls dead grass out of my flower beds. Guess what? My perennials are poking their little heads up, raring to go. I also have a flower. Its a crocus. All by its beautiful, colorful self! Hooray! Can you tell how excited I am?
Marlene will resume her weekly report. She and Ken are returning very soon from their much deserved vacation. Im surprised they are coming so soon before the mud dries up here, but I am anxious to see them, as are their family and friends. I personally am excited that Mom can take back this report. She is much better at finding things to write about ... even in the dead of winter. She is an amazing lady, and Im sure she cant wait to be back.
Looking forward to seeing all the summer residents returning to town. Im sure it wont be long and Ill be back to my morning walks with Florence, and waving to Ginger every time we drive by her house. Cant wait to see you all; take care and God bless.
