Dear Editor:
Last Wednesday we accepted the offer to tour the SWOS facility and visit with many of the staff as well as some of the students. Our experience was encouraging and inspirational. Academic courses, service projects and student contracts with the school as well as with themselves, shedding attitudes and ideas that are self destructive, were mentioned several times.
For 25 years, this school has gotten by on very little, and now, thanks to the BEST award, it could have a first-class campus to complement a first-class program. We cannot let $7.4 milion slip by simply because times are tough. We live in a county where times have always seemed to be tough.
