Dear Editor:
With the election of a new school board, I think it is time to take a look at how the district spends our money. Can we afford a superintendent with a six-digit salary? Do we really need multiple directors and managers with salaries in the $70,000 range? Can we afford them? I dont think so. Could that money be better spent? I believe it could. Hopefully the new board will address these issues.
The recent property tax election clearly shows that people are unhappy with how the district spends money. It is time for the district the trim the fat!
Put the directors and managers back into the classroom and reduce class loads. That might result in improvements in test scores and student success.
After you show us that you are using our tax money wisely, then you can ask for more. Until then it is unlikely that any request for a tax increase will be successful.
