M-CHS takes 1st place

The Montezuma-Cortez High School marching band took first place in their class at the Bands of America Competition in St. George, Utah. The band also swept the Class Caption Awards for Outstanding Music, Outstanding General Effect, and Outstanding Visual Performance categories. They also marched in front of all the bands and parents as the opener for the 5A Finals. What a way to end a fantastic marching season. The M-CHS band’s wins this season include: Colorado West Marching Festival, Grand Junction, first place, 4A Division; CBA Western Slope Regionals, Grand Junction, first place, 3A and 2nd overall in state; Colorado State Marching Finals, Denver/Parker, second place/silver medals, Class 3A; Red Rock Invitational, St. George, Utah, third place, 3A; Bands of America, St. George, Utah, first place, Class 1A with all three Caption Awards. The band received many compliments about its rich sound and technical skills.
