Festivities for the 69th Annual Ute Mountain Roundup Rodeo got going on Wednesday.
The festivities kicked off on Wednesday with a chuck wagon barbecue at 6 p.m. at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds.
Rodeo shows start at 7 p.m. Thursday at the fairgrounds with a family night.
Military Appreciation Night will follow on Friday at the fairgrounds, and Saturday’s show is the “Tough Enough To Wear Pink” event, which helps raise awareness about breast cancer.
Other events include a carnival, a kids rodeo day at the Cortez Public Library and the Rob Yates Memorial Golf Tournament.

Mutton bustin’ and stick horse races will be held during each rodeo performance. Signup for those events is at Stoltz Equipment, 12936 U.S. Highway 491 in Cortez. Cost is $10 per child, first-come, first-served.
