“I grew up helping out at the local rodeo, working with Honeycutts (rodeo company) on the horses and bulls,” he said. “It will be cool to ride such good animals and do what I love, show the home crowd what I’ve been doing.”
Besides bronc riding for the Aggies, Gregory also competes in amateur and professional rodeos, almost year round. He competes Friday at the Ute Mountain Roundup Rodeo.
“For me it is just fun and a big adrenaline rush,” he said.
“I’ve been working out a lot, getting stronger and perfecting my technique. It’s amazing to be on such a big and powerful animal, and still be able to ride and do my job.”
Gregory is study agriculture education at New Mexico State, in Las Cruces. He is looking into career options such as science research, education, and agricultural extension agent.
“I’d like to be an agriculture teacher,” he said.
“I could not have afforded college without this scholarship, so I’m very thankful and very happy.”
