Colorado Parks and Wildlife will hold public meetings in the Gunnison Basin and Paonia/North Fork areas to discuss its work on updating big-game management plans.
On June 27, the meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds, 275 S. Spruce St. CPW will present information regarding elk management in the West Elk Mountains for game management units 53, 54 and 63.
On July 6, the meeting will be at the Paonia public library, 80 Samuel Wade Road. The first part of the meeting, at 6 p.m., will be about deer management in GMUs 53 and 63. At 7:30 p.m., a presentation covers elk management in GMUs 53, 54 and 63.
On Aug. 9, the meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Cedaredge Community Center Centennial Room, 140 NW Second St. Deer management in GMUs 411, 52, and 521 will be discussed.
At all meetings, wildlife managers will present information regarding history of management in these areas, harvest and survival trends and habitat. The planning process will take about a year, and CPW will gather input from the public through online surveys.
