How about a high five.
Thats all the wrestlers that suited up for Montezuma-Cortez last Saturday at the Palisade tournament.
However, the fab-five of Levi Gross, Ryan Daves, Justice Ramos, Seager Oliver and Trenton Gustafson did well on the mat for Montezuma-Cortez High School.
Daves and Gustafson placed first at 126 and 182 pounds, while Gross took second at 113. Oliver and Ramos each won matches as well.
Gustafson pinned his way to a championship. He defeated Palisades Zach Judis and Zane Stewart, and knocked off Morgan Rieder of Paonia.
Daves continued his strong season with pins over Santi Rung-Aroon (Palisade) and Tyler Schultz of Grand Valley. Daves also won a 4-0 decision against Justin Ray of Palisade.
Gross beat Palisades Garret Park by an 8-2 decision, and pinned Quynn Day. He lost in the title round to Jesse Reed (Paonia) on an 11-0 major decision.
Ramose and Oliver each recorded 1-2 marks at 132 and 152 pounds, respectively.
M-CHS will grapple at the Rifle High School tournament Saturday at 9 a.m.
