Since I was unable to attend the June 26 county commissioner meeting, I’m writing this letter as my public comment.
At a past meeting, I questioned the safety of using fossil water on our county roads. The “produced” water not only contains drilling constituents, it carries a toxic mixture dredged from deep formations which would, under natural circumstance, never meet the surface.
At that meeting, I expressed my support of magnesium chloride spraying over saving money on fossil water. Now, we see Reams has not been transparent or compliant in following procedures required by the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment, the agency charged with protecting our public health, which I consider a serious omission on the part of the company.
Apparently our county still possesses several thousand gallons of that mixture and my suggestion is that we require Reams to come haul that water away at their expense, and reimburse the county for any costs associated with their deceptive practices.
