The 29th annual San Juan Basin Extension Beef Cattle Symposium will be held Feb. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds, east of Cortez. The San Juan Basin Extension Beef Cattle Symposium has become a tradition in Southwest Colorado and Northwest New Mexico.
This years event will primarily focus on profitability, animal health, and management.
Topics will include:
Status of the Livestock Industry Whats Driving the Cattle Market, presented by Jim Robb, Livestock Marketing Information Center.
Leaving a Lasting Legacy with Rod Sharp, CSU Regional Economic Specialist.
Vaccination Programs and Protocol presented by speaker Libby Frazer, DVM.
Native and Non-Native Poisonous Plants: Identification and Control hosted by Rod Cook, La Plata County Weed Manager.
Calving Difficulties presented by John Wenzel, DVM, NMSU.
This program is sponsored by Basin Co-op in Durango and IFA Country Store in Cortez.
Registration is $20 per person if postmarked by Friday, Feb. 10, and will include lunch and workshop materials. Late registration will be $25 per person.
