Eli Tomac was holding steady in third place Saturday in San Diego.
The Cortez native was trying to defend Qualcomm Stadium, where he won his first American Motorcyclist Association, Supercross Lites West race last year.
However, in lap seven, Tomac crashed his Honda CRF250 into the (track) whoops and did not finish.
Race winner Dean Wilson supplanted Tomac atop the SX Lites West standings, 116-114. The loss snaps Tomacs three race winning streak.
Tomac, who rides for Geico Powersports Honda Factory Racing team, will not race supercross for two months. The AMA series shifts eastward and will resume on the West Coast in Seattle, Wash., on Saturday, April 21.
