WEDNESDAY, FEB. 8
A officer was dispatched to a residence in reference to a cold burglary. A man at the scene said that he had a female friend over earlier in the day, and she had been working with her computer and had taken a shot of tequila. The man told her that he had to leave and go to work, and the woman asked if she could stay in his residence. She was told no, that no one could be in the apartment while he was gone. The man left for work and when he returned home, he found his front door open. The womans computer was still in his apartment. He found items scattered around his bedroom, and noticed he was missing some old checks from when he lived in Arizona, and that a storage container had been opened. Missing from the container was a digital camera and digital camcorder; he was also missing a bottle of tequila and a bottle of Lortabs from the kitchen area. He called the officer later to report that he was also missing his passport, an old Arizona drivers license, and his social security card which had been stored in a small portable safe at the foot of his bed. The apartment door had not been broken into. The woman that had been in his apartment was the only person who knew where he kept the items that were stolen, and the only person who knew where he kept his apartment key. Fingerprints were obtained from the storage container, and the shot glass that the woman had been drinking from also had the womans fingerprints on it. The man also named three other men that might have been with the woman when she returned to the apartment; there was a mans green, white, and black jacket left on the kitchen counter that did not belong to the resident. The other possible suspects will also be located and interviewed.
SUNDAY, FEB. 12
Officers responded to the parking lot of City Market in reference to a fight in progress. While en route, dispatch advised that a vehicle was leaving the parking lot with a female hanging from the vehicle. All officers responded with lights and sirens activated. An officer observed the car traveling west on Main Ave. with a female hanging onto the hood of the car, and after the officer got behind it, the vehicle turned into a parking lot and stopped. Five officers arrived at the scene. The woman who had been on the hood of the car got off and began yelling at the driver, a woman who was known to officers from previous contacts. The driver was ordered out of the vehicle and handcuffed, and the other female, who was bleeding from cuts on her hands, was ordered to sit on the ground. She claimed that the woman driving had tried to hit her with the car in the parking lot of City Market, and said that she had no other choice but to jump on the hood of the car, and that is when the car took off at a high rate of speed. Multiple witnesses at the scene contradicted this story and said that the woman was standing at the drivers side window of the car while yelling at the driver, and when the driver attempted to pull away, the woman jumped onto the hood of the vehicle. Several more witnesses in the area observed the vehicle leave the parking lot at a high rate of speed, and said that it was going so fast that when it hit low spots and the driveway, that sparks flew from the underside of the vehicle. The car ran a stop sign and jumped the curb at Montezuma Ave. The driver said that she was approached by the other woman who was yelling; she believed that she was going to be beaten up by the woman and tried to leave in her car. After the woman jumped on the hood, she called 911 and dispatch confirmed this to be true; she refused to pull over and wait for officers, however. A friend of the woman who had jumped on the car also claimed that the driver had attempted to run the woman over. The driver was issued a summons for reckless driving; the woman on the hood of the car was issued a summons for person hung onto the outside of a vehicle.
MONDAY, FEB. 13
An officer was requested by dispatch to speak with a woman about her purse being stolen. She told the officer that about 30 minutes earlier, she had her car parked outside of her mothers home and had started the truck to warm it up and left the door unlocked. Upon her return she found that her purse had been stolen, including her checkbook, ID, her debit card, and a brand new I-Pod Touch device. She was advised to immediately cancel her checks and debit card, and to not leave her truck warming up in the future.
An officer responded to a business location for a report of a cold burglary. The owner advised that someone had broken into his storage unit and stolen all of the multiple radiators stored there. Stolen were three Chevrolet four core radiators, and three Chevrolet three core radiators, valued at approximately $900. Salvage businesses will be checked on the possibility that the radiators were or will be brought in in an attempt to sell them.
TUESDAY, FEB. 14
An officer was dispatched to Dennys for a meal skip. The manager there told the officer that they had served a table of four, with two adults and two small children, and were later joined by two more adults. After the party ate their food, they got up at different times, went into the bathrooms, and then left the restaurant without paying for the food. Three of the adults appeared on the surveillance video, and a copy of the footage will be provided to investigators. A waitress also provided the license plate number of the vehicle it was believed that they left in.
