A fan belt kitty named Lucky has a story to tell. This small, young neutered male with big yellow eyes is a survivor; hes about seven months old and had a really nasty start in life. He was found in his sliced-and-diced condition by a good samaritan in the parking lot of the Good Samaritan Thrift Store. He was badly injured and was in very bad shape from wounds inflicted by a car engine. His right back leg was broken, he lost a tooth, lost part of one ear, and the tip of his tail, and had a terrible cut down the center of his back. In addition, he was starving. One month later, Lucky is fat and healing up nicely. Right now, he hops like a bunny, and gets around very well and quickly; hell use his leg more as he heals but will always have a limp. His fur will grow back over his wounds, but hes probably going to bear battle scars. Despite this boys horrible experience, his personality remains unaffected. Lucky is a very thankful, happy kitty, and seems to know he was saved he purrs happily whenever hes held. He is an incredibly sweet, quiet, and calm boy. Hes not glamorous, but he is grateful to be alive, and will make someone a wonderful, loving pet. Please consider opening your home to Lucky, or one of the other deserving animals that have found themselves at the shelter, and give one (or more!) a chance for a happy life. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays; they will be open this Friday. Right now, the shelter needs Iams Pedigree puppy chow, and usable leashes (used is fine). The shelter also needs Dawn liquid dish soap, liquid laundry soap, and scented (lavender, spring fresh, etc.) generic bleach. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
