Police have the name of the suspect and if he is not located, a warrant will be issued for his arrest.
An officer responded to a residence in reference to a female subject with an active felony warrant for her arrest out of La Plata County for dangerous drugs. After knocking on the front door for approximately five minutes, a female opened the door. The officer recognized her from photos as the subject on the warrant. The woman refused to give her last name, and was placed under arrest. While being escorted to a patrol vehicle, she admitted that she knew she had a warrant. She was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance due to exhibiting symptoms consistent with being under the influence of methamphetamine. The officer observed needle marks on the inside of both of her arms. She was served a warrant for failure to appear for controlled substances/possession of a schedule 2 drug, and was left in the care and custody of jail staff.
An officer was dispatched to a trailer in a local mobile home park. The resident of this property had come home and found two unknown persons inside. The officer spoke with a woman that told him that she and her boyfriend were in the process of moving and took a load of belongings to their new residence. When they returned the next day, they were walking to the front door and heard people inside the home talking, and heard a female voice asking for a towel. They first thought it was family, but the front door was locked. They knocked on the door, and the people got quiet inside the house. The resident announced loudly that if they didnt open the door, they were going to call the police. They waited a short time, and the boyfriend walked around to the east side of the home. The window was open, and two people had just come out of the window, described as a male and a female, with the male carrying a small dog, possibly a Chihuahua. When the boyfriend saw them, the couple took off running. The boyfriend tried to follow them in his truck, but lost sight of them. The female was wearing blue jeans and a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood obscuring her face, and the male was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. Photos were taken of the footprints the couple left when they jumped out the window. The woman resident said that it didnt look like anything was missing.
An officer responded to Cedar Oaks Condominiums for a call of vandalism. He met with the landlord of the property, who told him he was there evicting his renter due to non-payment of rent, and when he walked into the house, he saw extensive damage to walls, doors, light fixtures, and carpet, and estimated the damages would cost over $20,000 to return the residence to its previous condition. The landlord identified a man and his juvenile son as the renters who had rented the property for approximately two and a half years, and stated that the condominium had been brand new when they moved in. The damages noted were too extensive to list, including holes in the walls and doors that matched the shape and size of a hammer lying on the floor. There were multiple piles of dog feces on the carpet, and the house smelled very badly due to the every floor in the house being covered with trash, clothes, and personal items. The officer contacted the resident and his son, who were sitting outside. The juvenile admitted to causing most of the damage because he had temper tantrums. He also said that he got very mad when he played his video games. The father admitted to causing some of the damage himself, but said that his son did most of it. The son told his dad he was sorry for getting him in trouble. The father was arrested, charged with criminal mischief, and issued a felony hold and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center. The juvenile was taken into custody and also charged with criminal mischief. He was transported to, and left in the care and custody of Denier Youth Services in Durango.
An officer contacted a case manager for an Offender Management program in reference to a stolen ankle monitor. A client was supposed to come in and download the data from his ankle monitor, but had failed to show up for his appointment. The case manager had been unable to contact him, and stated that she wished to press charges. The officer was unable to locate the client at his residence. If it is determined that the client removed and disposed of his monitor, an arrest warrent will be sought for him.
TUESDAY, MARCH 13
An officer met a woman in the lobby of the police department in reference to a camera she found on her property. The police had recently been called to the area because neighbors had been fighting in her yard. She had found the camera lying in the street next to the curb in front of her house when she went outside the next day. The womans daughter showed her the pictures on the camera, and the photos were of bottles of alcohol lined up on a counter. She brought it in to the police in hopes that someone had reported it lost. The officer looked at persons in some of the photos on the camera and did not recognize anyone. The camera was submitted as found property.
