Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

this Pretty red Mamacita is the mother of the five puppies featured in this section two weeks ago. The pups have all been adopted, but Mama remains at the shelter, in need of a good home. This little girl is a Chihuahua-Beagle-Dachshund mix. She’s young — two or three years-old — and is very affectionate and loving. This small size dog is a nice russet-red color with big brown eyes and silky ears; Mama loves being hugged and will hug back with her long front legs. She’s very energetic and loves to play, and this Mama’s very tolerant and great with kids, cats, and other dogs. She’ll make a great pet, and watchdog, as she’ll bark at strangers. Please consider opening your home to this sweet little dog or one of the other deserving animals that have found themselves at the shelter, and give one a chance for a happy life. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be closed this Friday. In celebration of Easter, during the week of April 2-6, the shelter invites the public to bring children by to select an egg from the Basket of Blessings. Each egg holds a surprise treat and a wish for a donation item for a child to bring back to the shelter to help the homeless pets. Right now, the shelter needs paper towels, Dawn liquid dish soap, powder-type dishwasher soap, and scented (lavender, spring fresh, etc.) generic bleach. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com (enter 81321 zip code) or http://www.cityofcortez.com/government/animal_shelter.
