Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Senior citizens need love too. This sweet senior dog has a lot of life left in him, and love to give. This small neutered male Dachshund mix is young at heart. He’s very energetic and loves nothing more than going on walks. He’s well-mannered, and gets along fine with cats and with other dogs. This happy dog has a smooth black and tan coat, silky ears, and big brown eyes. This grandpa was found out on the highway — in the highway — south of Cortez. One can’t help but wonder where his life has taken him before now. He’s a good dog, and he’ll make a great pet, because he’s so well-trained, and will be very grateful to whoever will give him a shot at life. Please consider opening your home to this sweet-natured dog or one of the other deserving animals that have found themselves at the shelter, and give one a chance for a happy life. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be open this Friday. In celebration of Easter, the shelter invites the public to bring children by this week to select an egg from the Basket of Blessings. Each egg holds a surprise treat and a wish for a donation item for a child to bring back to the shelter to help the homeless pets. Right now, the shelter needs puppy chow, paper towels, Dawn liquid dish soap, powder-type dishwasher soap, and scented (lavender, spring fresh, etc.) generic bleach. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com (enter 81321 zip code) or http://www.cityofcortez.com/government/animal_shelter.
