The 154 students, preschool through fifth-grae and the staff at Seventh Street Elementary read for a total of 52,795 minutes during the month of March. The all-school goal was 52,600 minutes. The school celebrated this accomplishment with an ice cream party and awards ceremony on April 10. The goal for the primary students was for them to read or be read to at least 15 minutes a day. The goal for the intermediate students was to read for 20 minutes each day. The students who met and exceeded their goal each week were entered into an additional drawing for more prizes that were donated by businesses in Dove Creek and Cortez.
The Dove Creek businesses that we would like to thank are: Dove Creek Superette, Normas Floral, Wild Coffee, and the Ox Company. The Cortez businesses are: City Market, IFA, Susies Hallmark, Slavens True Value, Natalie Hager with Farmers Insurance, Wal-Mart, Meadow Gold, and High Mesa Designs.

The PTO would like to thank the students and their parents for their participation and hard work on this project. A huge thanks goes to Dealila Huskey, Angie Buffington, Wendy Granneman, and the fifth-grade for their hard work in keeping the Bookworm around the school going and up to date. Teachers, these projects would never be successful if you didnt allow the time and encourage your students to participate. Thank you for your commitment to educating our children.
