Fort Lewis College President Dene Thomas prioritizes tuition waiver

In last year, first female president works to continue education for Native American students
Dene Kay Thomas, president of Fort Lewis College, has watched the school go through many changes during her eight-year tenure. She has worked to ensure that Native American students can continue to attend the college for free, which stems from a contract struck more than a century ago between the state and the federal government.
