Earn a manicurist certificate
The Southwest Colorado Community College West Campus is offering a manicurist certificate program this summer. The classes provide training in manicuring, pedicure, nail design extensions, and nail artistry. Students will enroll in 20 credits, with classes to be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning May 29 and ending July 31. They will be able to take the state board exam for their license once they complete all 20 credits. For more information, call 564-6200
Montezuma Mayhem Obstacle Race
The first-ever Montezuma Mayhem Obstacle Race will be held Saturday, May 19 at Montezuma-Cortez High School , located at 206 W. 7th Street in Cortez. Racers will run over a mile with 10 obstacles to overcome, as well as mini-fitness challenges along the way. Start times are between 1-2:40 p.m. Register at Pepperhead, Kokopelli Bike & Board, or the Cortez Cultural Center for $20.
