12 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of North Beech Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local felony charge.
1:44 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of West Fifth Street on suspicion of driving under restraint.
8:39 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway, on suspicion of disturbing the peace after several Cortez Burger King employees claimed she had been repeatedly calling them to make accusations about her ex-boyfriend, also an employee, and to demand heroin. Police had issued her a trespass notice the previous day and told her to stop calling, but employees claimed they were still receiving multiple calls from her. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
3:17 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on suspicion of shoplifting. Store employees claimed she had stolen two bras, valued at $9.92 total.
Sunday, Oct. 15
12:42 a.m.: A man and woman were arrested in the 200 block of South Chestnut Street on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The woman was also arrested on suspicion of driving on the wrong side of the road in an uninsured vehicle. A small scale with meth residue was found in her purse, and a bag containing scales and syringes was found in the vehicle. A small bag of meth and two glass pipes were found in the vehicle. The man reportedly said he used meth for a mental disorder because he couldn’t afford prescription medication.
10:32 a.m.: Police responded to a report of found property in the 100 block of South Linden Street. A woman said she had found a bicycle in her backyard. Police were unable to find its owner, and it had not been reported stolen.
12:40 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft at Big R, 1319 E. Main St. Employees claimed a hammer drill valued at $350 had been stolen out of its case at about 4:45 p.m. the previous day, based on security video. The case remains under investigation.
10:39 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Liquid Assets, 718 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
Monday, Oct. 16
11:02 a.m.: Police responded to a report of found property in the 400 block of East Arbecam Avenue. A man said a bicycle with an estimated value of $79.99 was found leaning against the fence of one of his properties in the area. Police were unable to immediately identify the owner.
9:35 p.m.: A man was issued a summons for trespassing at City Market, 508 E. Main St.
11:37 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI and turning in front of approaching traffic.
1:06 p.m.: Police assisted in transporting a woman to the Montezuma County Detention Center from Cortez Municipal Court, 123 N. Roger Smith Ave.
Tuesday, Oct. 17
2:01 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 200 block of East Seventh Street on a felony warrant out of Saline County, Kansas, for a drug offense.
8:29 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of South Park Street on suspicion of DUI and DUI per se after police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area. He was reportedly sitting in a vehicle across from the house where the reported disturbance had taken place, and speaking threateningly about its occupants. A knife was found in one of his pockets. The suspect was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
Wednesday, Oct. 18
3:12 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear on an out-of-county misdemeanor charge.
Thursday, Oct. 19
4:49 a.m.: Police responded to a report of a dog bite at Southwest Memorial Hospital. A woman claimed one of her dogs had bitten her hand while she was trying to give it a bone.
5:31 a.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.
1:52 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. A woman claimed her son had knocked down the television and thrown several chairs in their home. Responding officers contacted the son, but the mother did not press charges, reportedly saying she just wanted him to “cool off” before returning home.
4:14 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to comply on a local misdemeanor charge.
4:33 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being transported to jail, due to intoxication.
8:22 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating a protection order. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
11:22 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of North Madison Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after police responded to a report that he and another group were having a loud party in an alley. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
Friday, Oct. 20
12:24 a.m.: A man and a woman were arrested at Once Upon a Sandwich, 7 W. Main St., on suspicion of interfering with officers after police responded to a report of a fight between them. While officers talked with the man, he reportedly tried to charge at a man who was yelling at him from the bar. The officers reportedly pushed him to the ground and grabbed his arms restrain him. The woman reportedly ran toward them yelling, and an officer pushed her away, causing her to fall. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
8:01 a.m.: Police responded to a report of a found bicycle at Mesa Elementary School, 703 W. Seventh St. The bike, a purple Shimano Roadmaster 18-speed, had not been reported stolen, but police were unable to immediately find its owner.
6:58 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of East Second Street on suspicion of violating a protection order. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
Saturday, Oct. 21
12:53 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 7000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on suspicion of DUI, driving under restraint, failing to drive in a single lane and failure to provide proof of insurance. He was reportedly pulled over after police responded to a report that he was leaving Angel’s End Zone intoxicated, and responding officers saw his vehicle weave over the fog line. A plastic bag containing about 6 grams of marijuana was found in his vehicle. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.
