‘Tow plows’ to be used this winter in Southwest Colorado

Swinging blade may look like a jack-knifed truck, but it’s doing its job fighting snow
Two new “tow plow” trucks were added to the Southwest and South-Central Colorado fleet. The new trucks allow 14 more inches of snow to be cleared, for a total of 22 feet with one truck.
This graphic shows how a tow plow deploys a trailer equipped with a blade at a jack-knife angle. The trucks will be followed by additional CDOT crews as the public becomes accustomed to the new sight.
