GLENWOOD SPRINGS — A man accused of leading a major illegal marijuana grow in western Colorado has been arrested in connection with another grow nearby.
The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports that about 2,420 marijuana plants were found last year at Hueng Yu Wong’s property near Rifle, prompting an investigation by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. Investigators found that Wong also owned property south of New Castle, where federal and local authorities say they found about 250 pounds (113 kilograms) of recently harvested marijuana.
Wong was arrested Nov. 2 on suspicion of violating state law at the property near New Castle. Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario says he isn’t facing any state charges in the Rifle case, which is being handled by the DEA.
Wong is being held in jail. No attorney is listed for him in court records.
