Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Happy-go-lucky is the best description for this wonderful and optimistic pup. This girl is about 17 weeks old, and appears to be an Anatolian Shepherd mix. She has a striking reddish-brown and black coat with big alert ears, and a funny tail that perpetually curls into a perfect circle. A playful, boisterous puppy, she is very friendly and loves people and other dogs. This bouncing baby is high energy and loves going on walks. She’s a very happy extrovert — in fact, she’s been happy since the day she came in after being picked up stray in the county. If you have room in your life for a joyful personality, she’s the perfect girl for you. Also still available is former Pet of the Week, the delightful gray and white kitty Smoky, as well as four other wonderful and affectionate adult cats that are down on their luck, including one big, brawny de-clawed boy who gives kisses. They really need a chance. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be closed this Friday. Right now, the shelter desperately needs large-size rawhide chews — the shelter dogs really look forward to getting one each afternoon. They also need scented bleach, liquid laundry soap, and non-clumping style cat litter. Ask how you can be a shelter volunteer even for just one hour a week. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com (enter 81321 zip code) or www.cityofcortez.com/government/animal_shelter.
