Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Kittens galore are lounging, galloping, playing, and bouncing around the cat room at the shelter. Just try to say no to one of these adorable babies. There are males and females ranging from 8 to 10 weeks old. There are kittens of all different colors — tiger tabbies, black, calico, orange tabby, smoke-gray, white with black, and even a Manx tabby kitten with no tail — and all of them are very social and ready to find their new home. These little sprouts even excel at using a litter box at this young age. If you have room in your life for a bundle of joy, one of these babes are for you. Please also consider one of the four affectionate adult cats at the shelter, including Pet of the Week, Smokey, a delightful gray and white kitty. These girls really need a chance. The shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on alternate Fridays. They will be open this Friday. Also, check out your potential pet at the Shelter’s Adopt-a-thon and blood drive this Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cortez Walmart — look for the Bloodmobile in the parking lot. Right now, the shelter desperately needs large-size rawhide chews — the homeless dogs really look forward to getting one each afternoon. They also need scented bleach, liquid laundry soap, paper towels, and dish soap — and lots of adopters! All pet adoptions at the shelter now include having your new pet fixed and microchipped. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910. To view more animals, visit www.petfinder.com or www.petango.com (enter 81321 zip code for each) or www.cityofcortez.com/government/animal_shelter.
