Editor:
I am a concerned citizen who lives in Cortez and have followed the Dylan Kuhn case in the newspaper. I for one believe in the old saying, Do not judge until you have walked a mile in someones shoes. I am sure there are facts and circumstances we are not privy to concerning this case, and I, for one, am not going to prejudge this child.
I am sure the DA made an informed decision when he did a plea bargain in this case. He and only he can make that decision and I am sure he made a wise and competent decision concerning this case. I am sure there are facts and circumstances that have not yet come out, and that others are involved.
This investigation is not over, and soon the light will shine on the true perpetrator in this case. I for one am waiting for that day, when this child will be found innocent. My heart goes out to family and friends during this trying time. Weigh this case on the facts, not emotions, and I am sure the truth will eventually come out and this young man will be exonerated.
I ask with all the compassion in my heart and as a mother, give this boy the benefit of a doubt. After all, if this were our child, we would fight to the bitter end to prove his innocence. Look into your hearts and realize the pain and sorrow this family is going through. They have lost a grandchild and a great-granchild; do not let them lose another child. Give this young man a chance in life, and relieve his parents and grandparents of this sorrow.
