Tuesday, Dec. 5

10:31 a.m.: A woman was cited at Ute Mountain Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive, Towaoc, on suspicion of false reporting to authorities after deputies responded to a report of theft. The woman reportedly told deputies a man had taken her work tablet, a laptop, two pairs of jeans, a pair of boots and $150 in cash. The man took deputies to the room he shared with the woman and showed them the property on the bed. When a deputy told the woman he would cite her for false reporting, she reportedly began yelling and tried to get away, and the deputy forced her to the ground to handcuff her. She was treated by casino personnel for a bloody nose.

11:55 a.m.: A man was remanded to custody from Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

12:18 p.m.: The same man was remanded to custody from Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

2:36 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of trespassing in the 22000 block of County Road N. A woman said that while she was away from home between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., someone had attached a hose to the water spigot at her garage and flooded her deck and flower bed. She said she did not want an investigation, but wanted it to be recorded.

Wednesday, Dec. 6

10:34 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in Cortez. A juvenile reported he had traded an adult $100 and a rifle in exchange for a handgun, but later realized the handgun’s serial number had been filed off. Deputies reportedly found that the man who traded the gun to the boy was a felon and not allowed to possess firearms. They also told the juvenile and his father that he was not old enough to possess firearms. The gun was stored as evidence.

11:14 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

2:43 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft at the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St. A man reported someone had forged and attempted to cash a check from his account. The case is under investigation.

2:49 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant in the 5000 block of County Road 25.

8:39 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 11000 block of County Road 25 on suspicion of third-degree assault, harassment and domestic violence after her husband claimed she had pushed and slapped him while telling him to leave their house. The woman was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to suspected intoxication. She reportedly shouted racial slurs at the deputy while being taken to the hospital.

Thursday, Dec. 7

9:41 a.m.: A man was cited in the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on suspicion of reckless driving and failing to obtain a port of entry clearance after two people said he had forced them to move into traffic while passing them in a semitrailer. A Colorado State Patrol trooper also told deputies the man had not stopped at a port of entry as required by semi drivers.

Thursday, Dec. 7

4:51 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

6:13 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident in the 12000 block of County Road 25. A woman reported she had collided with a deer without damaging her vehicle. A responding deputy killed the wounded deer and turned it over to another woman who had said she was interested in taking roadkill.

11:44 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant for identity theft at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Friday, Dec. 8

1:08 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 2200 block of U.S. Highway 160, Towaoc, on suspicion of driving under restraint after he was pulled over for driving with an improperly placed license plate.

Saturday, Dec. 9

11:30 a.m.: Deputies responded to a structure fire in the 14000 block of County Road 36.7, Dolores. A cabin was fully engulfed in flames, and a man was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Responding Dolores Fire Protection District personnel said they did not suspect foul play in the fire, which appeared to have started at a wood stove inside the cabin.

7:51 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident in the 25000 block of Colorado Highway 184. A deer had been struck by a vehicle that had left the scene. A deputy killed the deer with his firearm.

Sunday, Dec. 10

9:12 a.m.: Deputies responded to a possible suicide threat in the county. A woman was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment after she reportedly said she was hearing voices and planned to cut herself. While at the hospital, she reportedly tried to fight the staff, who she said were assaulting her, and was chemically sedated for her own safety. The woman’s mother reportedly told deputies the woman had been treated at Axis Health System multiple times with no results, but she didn’t know where else to go for help.
