Summer Slam basketball tournament
The 2012 Summer Slam mens and womens open basketball tournament is set to take place Friday through Sunday at the Ute Mountain Recreation Center in Towaoc. Its a double elimination tourney with eight-person rosters. Its 12 teams for the mens bracket and eight teams for the women. Entry fee is $165 and the registration deadline is Wednesday. First-place team receives a $200 cash prize and hooded pullovers. Second-place gets long sleeve T-shirts and third-place wins T-shirts. Cortez Rec. coed flag football
The City of Cortez now registering for coed flag football. Teams will consist of a minimum of six players; three men and three women. Each team will receive a six-game season and a single elimination tournament. Cost to play is $175. The season begins Thursday, Sept. 13. Registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 6. The City of Cortez is now taking reservations for regular season mens and womens volleyball. Teams will consist of at least six players. The season begins Monday, Sept. 10, for women and Tuesday, Sept. 11, for men. Each team will receive eight games and a double elimination tournament. Cost to play is $175 per team.
