The Montezuma-Cortez High School Symphonic Winds will perform a combined concert with the Southwest Civic Winds on Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. at the Ralph E. Vavak Memorial Auditorium.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for student and seniors. Children 6 years and under will be admitted for free.
All proceeds from this concert will go to the Montezuma-Cortez High School band program.
The Southwest Civic Winds are a semi-professional ensemble based in Durango.
According to Katie Zdanowski, M-CHS band director and Tuba Player in the Southwest Civic Winds, the concert will celebrate the centennial anniversary of Leonard Bernstein, featuring music by American icons such as Aaron Copland, John Philip Sousa, and Bernstein himself.
Zdanowski said the Southwest Civic Winds have been eager to play in the Ralph E. Vavak Memorial Auditorium and conductor, Mark Walters reached out to Zdanowski about a joint concert.
Tickets will be sold by band students starting the first week of February.
