After the Dolores High School girls’ basketball team lost five of its first seven games to start the season, head coach Tiffany Hill implored her players to pass the ball inside.
Since then, the Lady Bears have won four straight games to improve to 6-5 overall and 5-1 in the San Juan Basin League.
Dolores’ most recent victory came on the road against Ridgway on Jan. 20 when the Lady Bears pounded the ball into the pain and walked away with a 56-23 victory. Junior Morgan Milligin scored a career-high 18 points, and senior Josie Majors scored 17.
Other Lady Bear scorers included McKenzie Howerton, who scored 9 points, Tatum Majors, who registered five points, Addie Jones, who scored three points, and Brenn Jeter and Sierra Schwartz, who each scored two.
Dolores will look to continue its winning streak during a road matchup against Ouray on Jan. 26, which will be followed by a home game against Dove Creek on Jan. 30.
