Cortez River Run for Orphans
The first ever Cortez River Run for Orphans will be Saturday at Parque de Vida. There will be a 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk. Race day registration starts at 8:30 a.m., with the 1-mile taking off at 10 and the 5K at 10:30. Money will be used to provide orphans with resources such as food, clothing, education, vocational training, proper nutrition and most importantly, a permanent loving family. Every participating school, church or community group decides where to send the money that they raise. The Cortez River Run for Orphans precedes the Reach Out Music Festival. Participants gain free entrance to the concert with their race number. There is online registration at www.RiverRunforOrphans.org. Cortez BMX season finale
Cortez BMX is holding its final race for the 2012 season on Saturday, Sept. 22. Sign-in is from 9:30 to 10 a.m. In addition to racing, we will be giving out awards for those competitors, who brought something special to our race days this season. We are also having a jumping competition for our racers to show us some style on the final double at the track. In addition to all of this excitement, we will also have a potluck after the races, so please bring a dish to share and your appetite. M-CHS fall activities community carnival
