Nice bass!

Cortez Bassmasters 2011-12 Anglers of the Year Sandra Rogers and Mike Carver stand with smallmouth bass they caught at McPhee Reservoir. Carver received a custom jacket made at High Mesa Design and a trophy for his accomplishment. Rogers received a jacket for being Co-Angler of the Year. Each contestant may weigh in five fish with the length set by the director, measured on a flat board. Minimum length for New Mexico’s Morgan Lake is 12 inches and Navajo Reservoir is 12 inches for smallmouth and 14 inches for largemouth bass. McPhee Reservoir is 15 inches, or under 10 inches for bass. Tournament standings are determined by the total weight for the day. A total of six tournaments are scheduled for the year. Each contestant takes the best five tournament total, plus 20 points for each meeting attended. The qualifying points and pound format determine the Angler of the Year. The same requirements are followed for Co-anglers. Co-anglers are given the chance to fish with a club boater. Anyone who wishes to learn more about the club, may contact tournament director Terry Beldon at 799-3694.
