Charlotte June Pyle was born in Cortez on Nov. 3, 1920, to Ray and Mable (Hanks) Chadwick. She passed away on Jan. 26, 2013, in Springdale, Ark. at the Circle of Life Hospice at the age of 92. She had been living with her daughter, Myrna, in Rogers, Ark. for the past six years.
Charlotte went to school in Dolores. On Sept. 8, 1936, she married the love of her life, Warren Pyle, in Monticello, Utah. She was "Momma" to their four children and "Mamou" to her seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Charlotte and Warren started their life together living and working at the trading post at Towaoc before the family went into ranching. Then they lived at the ranger station at Beaver where their cattle were during the summer and in the winter near Waterflow, New Mexico where they also had a trading post. They ranched at Thompson Park on Cherry Creek for many years. They lived in Cortez until moving to Globe, Ariz. in 1973. They were there until Warren's death in 2001.
Charlotte's family was her life. She will be remembered for many things, especially for being a wonderful homemaker and fantastic cook. She enjoyed doing needlework, gardening and playing with her grandchildren.
Her parents preceded her in death; along with her husband, Warren; sisters, Lucille Long and Leona Lynch; brother, Lawson Chadwick; son, Lew Ray Pyle; and grandson, Carroll Pyle.
Surviving her are her brother Jerry (Christine) Chadwick of Dolores; her daughters, Dona Cady of Kirtland, N.M. and Myrna Loveless of Rogers; son, Frank (Sandra) Pyle of Dolores; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A service is to be held at the Denton County Funeral Home in Rogers. According to her wishes, Charlotte has been cremated and will be interred in Colorado. The family plans a graveside service when her ashes come home. Memorial contributions may be made in Charlotte's name to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.
