Elks Hoop Shoot set for Dec. 8
The 42nd annual Elks Hoop Shoot competition will be held on Dec. 8 at the Cortez Middle School gymnasium. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. and the competition begins at 1:30 p.m. There is no entry fee.
The competition is open to all boys and girls in the age categories 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Contestants’ age groups will be determined by their ages as of April 1, 2014.
Entrants should bring proof of their birthdate. Awards will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category. For details on the Hoops Shoot, contact Gini Olson or Fred DeWitt at 970-882-4904.
Hoops tourney accepting entries
The Men’s 2013 Thanksgiving Shoot Out Basketball Tournament will be taking place Nov. 29-30 at the Ute Mountain Recreation Center in Towaoc.
Sixteen teams may participate and roster size is limited to eight players. The tournament is a double elimination format.
Prizes include cash, hoodies and t-shirts. The team entry fee is $175. Games begin at 12 p.m. on Nov. 29.
