After losing his only two matches of the Colorado state tournament last season, Montezuma-Cortez High School’s 145-pound junior Justice Ramos vowed to return.
A notoriously hard worker, Ramos prepared tirelessly for this season, lifting weights throughout the summer and running cross country in the fall.
Entering this year’s state tournament with a 29-12 record and appears poised to poised to advance through the tournament.
Cognizant of the talented opponents that await him however, Ramos is careful not to look ahead too far.
“It’s important to take it one match at a time,” said the M-CHS standout.
Hoping to get off to a strong start, Ramos will open the state tournament on Feb. 20 against Broomfield’s Randal Baker (18-16).
