About 35 persons, in addition to seven State Highway personnel, were on hand Tuesday for the hearing at the school concerning Highway 184 improvements being planned. The meeting was directed by Marshall Denton of the county planning department, Carl Dutton gave the major portion of the project work and explained that about $647,000 was budgeted for the area which would build about three to three and a half miles. Construction would start at the point of intersection with Highway 145, which would be at a point just east of the big fill at the top of the hill above the new river bridge.

During the planning phase, the work for seven and a half miles would be done to have the project laid out as far as the George Rogers home just this side of Summit Lake.

The paving would be two 11-foot widths with two 4-foot wide shoulders.

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy La France recently returned from a trip to Texas, where they visited with friends and relatives for a few days. They spent a few days in Las Vegas, then went on to Del Rio, Texas where they visited with Mrs. LaFrance's mother.

Mr. and Mrs. Corky McClain and son Brent and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Page and daughter Jodie went to Farmington on Sunday, where they had lunch and then attended an auction.

Laurie Ryan was among students competing in vocational education events in Cortez last week. Laurie won first place in the poster contest and took a fifth in the filing contest. There were over 30 girls in the competition.

Mrs. Norma Anderson and Mrs. Deanna Truelsen attended a reading conference in Pueblo on Friday and Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kenworthy and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carrigan drove to La Plata, N.M. last Sunday to inspect their new fire truck. They made the circle trip and enjoyed the spring-like weather.
