Without doubt, the best-equipped dairy in this part of the country is that of C.N. Morrison, of Summit Ridge community. It was this writer's pleasure to visit and inspect this establishment this week and see just what an up-to-date dairy farm consists of. Mr. Morrison has been to a great deal of labor and expense in building and equipping this dairy and the people of this community may well be proud that they are served by such an establishment. Mr. Morrison is now milking a herd of 22 high grade Jersey cows, supplying milk to Dolores and Beaver CCC camp.

Montezuma-Dolores Fish and Game association was launched at the meeting of some 25 representatives of Montezuma and Dolores counties communities held here Tuesday evening. Merton Taylor, of Dolores, was made president of the organization. The present principal objective of the association is to see that the Dolores river and other streams of the two counties are adequately stocked with trout, though it is the intention of the members to see what can be done about the securing of a deputy game warden for this territory.

Mesa Verde CCC camp defeated the Beaver camp team at Mesa Verde last Sunday, score 13 to 0. The Mesa Verde boys made 18 hits, Beaver 4. Beaver is credited with numerous errors, partly on account of the rough playing field.

The continued dry weather in this section has assumed somewhat alarming aspect, and unless there is rain and lots of it soon, crops are bound to suffer. The Dolores river is running less water right now than has ever been known at this time of year. Farmers under the Montezuma Valley Irrigation system are limited to domestic uses only and under the Summit system, the irrigation is being curtailed. Snow has practically all gone from the hills and the ground is exceedingly dry with many springs drying up.

A timber fire in Lost Canon Monday presented a serious aspect for a while .A crew of men from Mancos under direction of the forest service finally brought the fire under control. All which reminds us of the extreme danger of forest fires at the present time.

The crew under the direction of W. G. Clever has been making good headway this week on the construction of the new service station which James Lynton is building at the corner of Central Avenue and Fourth Street. the cement for the foundation has all been poured. Mr. Clever has also recently completed the job of remodeling the addition to the post office building to conform to fire ordinance specifications.

The time limit for making summer fallow loans through the Salt Lake office has been extended. Mr. C. A. Austin says there will be allowed $2 per acre for seed and $1 per acre for fuel.

The new Musgrave residence on Sixth street will soon be ready for occupation.
