Homecoming activities at the Dolores High School this weekend start off on Thursday night with a pep rally at 7:30 p.m. at the Dolores High School gym. A bonfire and snake dance will follow. The Homecoming parade will be held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon and will follow the "Nostalgia; Remember When" theme. Riding in the parade will be Homecoming Queen candidates from the Senior class, Connie Paxton, Esther Speer and Coline McEwen. They will be accompanied by Junior Attendant Jonnie Sue Ryan, Sophomore attendant Leslie Ward and Freshman attendant Sherry Barnes. The queen will be named at the half time of the Dolores-Mancos football game.
Dolores area residents will have an opportunity to give their input to the plans being formulated for a new hospital facility at a meeting to be held here on Tuesday, Oct. 10 in the community room of the Dolores State Bank.
The Dolores Booster Club is sponsoring a return match between Dolores alumni and Cortez in a football game to be played in Cortez this year when the local squad hopes to get even for last year's loss in a game played here that saw plenty of action. The annual grudge match, and other entertainment scheduled and unscheduled, will start at the football field at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Ore pile at Rico which had a "blowout" some time ago has been completely worked over to avoid a repetition of the unusual occurrence. C. M. Engle, and other news media personnel were invited by Rico Argentine to view the work which built up the berm and moved the ore back from the river.
Mr. and Mrs. Mory Plumlee and Maxine Kirk and three daughters went to Farmington on Sunday to spend the day visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Plumlee and family and helping Bruce celebrate his birthday.
Marge Bowden entertained the Tuesday bridge club this week. Prizes went to Mary LaFrance, Loava Bartholomew and Margaret Nielson.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kirk and family have recently moved back into the area from California. They are living in Cortez where Howard is employed by Bill Bridgewater, his brother-in-law. Mr. Kirk is the former Maxine Plumlee of Dolores.
Mr. and Mrs. Dana Bryan of Paradise, California have been visiting in the area for the past ten days. They and Mrs. Ella Cowling of Cortez, visited with Rowena and Jim Porter Sunday afternoon.
Teresa Sturdevant had a slumber party over the weekend with eleven guests to help her celebrate her fourteenth birthday.
