The Dolores Ski and Sports Swap will be held Nov. 8 at the Dolores Community Center, 400 Riverside Ave. from 8 a.m to 4 p.m.
If you are searching for equipment or have old equipment to get ride of, this is the swap for you.
Items to be sold, which can be any sporting equipment, clothing or gear, can be dropped off Friday, Nov. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m., said organizer Cindy Vermeule.
Telluride Ski passes also will be on sale. For more information, call 970-749-2393.
The money goes into a scholarship fund for Dolores students that want to go to Telluride and can't afford to go with the schools, Vermeule said.
This is the 15th annual ski swap in Dolores.
"Typically it turns into a good swap," Vermeule said. "Last year, it was really warm, so our numbers were down a bit because people weren't thinking about skiing."
And although it is expected to be warm this year too, Vermeule is hoping people will line up for the swap.
"I'm hoping it will be a good year," she said.
The swap charge a 15 percent sales fee for all items sold.
"Because it is a ski and sport swap, all sporting equipment, gear and clothing will be accepted," Vermeule said.
Winter Market this weekend
The Winter Market will start this weekend, Nov. 8, at Four Seasons Greenhouse and Nursery, 26650 Road P, Dolores. Don't miss out on this great chance to fill your fridge with locally made goodies and locally grown produce. The winter market will run through the winter and will be Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There is expected to be 23 vendors at the market selling everything from candles, baked goods, woven crafts, local pork, local produce and wood-fired pizzas.
Halloween happenings
Halloween seemed to be a big success in Dolores last Friday. The Dolores Food Market was all decked out with nearly 200 pumpkins carved by Dolores students and the Pony Expresso hosted an two-year anniversary party that night. Inside the coffee shop was free hot chocolate and samples of the delicious treats made inside. Yummy.
Kids lines up at the Halloween Carnival and the Dolores School District Office and others lined up outside the doors of friendly neighbors giving out treats. It seemed like a good time was had by all.
