Judy and Scott Aeschlimann pose Tuesday at the Anasazi Heritage Center with Scott Kill, Museum Specialist. The Aeschlimanns have been volunteers at the Heritage Center for five years. During the summer, they volunteer at Mesa Verde National Park. Judy is a retired special-education teacher from Cortez, and Scott is a retired math and science teacher who taught for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Kill said the Heritage Center and Canyons of the Ancients have 100 to 150 volunteers and could always use more. "Without volunteers, we couldn't keep the doors open. They are very vital. I always say, they are worth their weight in gold," Kill said. Call David Kill if you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities.
