Dr. George W. Sprecher, for several years a practitioner in Cortez and Rico, is mysteriously missing from his home at Victor, Colo., according to word received here by Dr. Lefurgey. The doctor, says available information, has been missing since March 3. It was first believe Dr. Sprecher might have been a victim of foul play, because of the circumstances of his disappearance and the fact that he carried several hundred dollars on his person. But chief Lehr was inclined toward the opinion Tuesday that the physician probably is a victim of amnesia. He had been in ill health for some time. A severe snow storm was raging the night he disappeared. He told his wife that he was going to Silverton on a business trip. Because of the announced plans Mrs. Sprecher did not become alarmed when he failed to return that night. When his auto was found parked in front of his office the following day she decided he had made the trip in a friend's car. After failing to hear from her husband, she communicated with friends in Silverton and was told that Dr. Sprecher had not appeared there.

Livestock in Montezuma County are wintering well, according to stockmen in town this week from the winter ranges. In spite of the droughty conditions last year and the heavy snow during the past few weeks, the rangeland in the lower stretches of the county is in fairly good condition.

Improvement of the highway between Dolores and Rico is one of the most important projects to be completed, according to Duane Kline, of the St. Louis Smelting & Refining company, who passed through Dolores this week en route to Albuquerque, N.M., where he will confer with financiers interested in operating producing mines. Mr. Kline, while in Dolores, called on officials of the local chamber of commerce and asked that a special meeting be called upon his return here. He said he would be here some time the forepart of the coming week, with a message that will lend hope.

The road from the town to the cemetery will be improved at an early date, says Harry V. Pyle. The funds will be provided by the government; will be one of the relief projects. The local chamber of commerce is directly responsible for carrying this project to the highest source and securing funds for its construction.

Sheriff Wes Dunlap was in Dolores Tuesday. After looking the place over and giving several of the ole cowpokes the up-and-down he returned to his home in Cortez.

Dick Murphy, it is said he be Irish, road overseer for the RGS, maybe that isn't the title but it'll do, spent Wednesday night in Dolores.

Larson Construction company, of Denver, has been awarded the contract for the work on Dallas divide, Ouray county. About $40,000 will be expended on the work.

R. N. Musgrave, of the Musgrave Garage, this week was granted the Chevrolet agency rights for this territory, according to word received by this office. Mr. Musgrave heretofore has been agent for the Dodge and Plymouth cars in addition to operating the garage.

Friday morning an airplane barely visible to people in Dolores, passed over, going in an eastward direction. Perhaps it was some pilot trying to make record time between Los Angeles and New York City. At least he was high in the ozone and scooting along like he was in a hurry.

A number of Dolores people are suffering from attacks of flu. Every one reported as feeling like all get out but recovering nicely.

With practically every town in the state reporting heavy subscriptions for the "Baby Bonds" offered for sale to the rank and file of the nation, it is surprising to learn that not a single bond has been sold at the Dolores post office. The bonds come in various denominations, the lowest being the $25. bond, which may be bought for $18.75.

Mrs. Helen Starkey is able to be out again after a long siege of illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ferrick moved back to McPhee this week.

Mr. Rhodes came up from Aztec this week for a visit with his sister, Mrs. Minerva Belmear.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bozman were up Thursday morning from Crotez on a brief visit with the Owens family.

Mrs. Harry Morgan and Miss Rowena Erickson were callers in Cortez Wednesday afternoon.

W. J. Exon is confined to his home at present with a severe cold.
