Pony Expresso owners Teresa Howell and Mark Looper are having a "Name that Pony Contest."
If you have a good name for the pony, drop your suggestion off at the shop. Entries are due by May 29, and the staff will vote on the winner on May 30.
Galloping Goose dates
Railroad buffs and fans of the Galloping Goose No. 5, get out your calendars. The Galloping Goose Historical Society released the schedules for the train's excursions this week.
On July 1-5, the train will travel to the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. Tickets range from $45 to $89. Don't miss the July 4 special, which will feature a late-afternoon departure and includes a barbecue, entertainment and fireworks display at the end of the track in Chama, N.M., Tickets for the Fourth of July Special start at $115.
The train is then expected to appear at the Durango Silverton Railfest August 13-16.
And if you missed the July excursions on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, you can catch the train in Chama on Sept. 30 The train will run the scenic railroad through Oct. 4. Tickets $45 to $89, with 20 percent discounts for children under 12 years old.

Open house
Speaking of the Galloping Goose, don't miss the Galloping Goose Historical Society's open house on Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 421 Railroad Ave. You can learn about the fun and benefits of volunteering at the historical society and take a ride on the Goose. Refreshments will be served.
Sheriff's report
The Montezuma County Sheriff's Office presented its monthly report to the Dolores Town Board. The report states that in April, Montezuma County Sheriff's deputies went on a total of 191 calls, including four animal calls, five assists with the fire department, four disturbances, 13 traffic stops and 11 security calls.
In total, deputies worked 631 hours in Dolores during April.
Deputies wrote three summons for disorderly conduct and one summons for speeding.
