Woman sentenced to drug court
Debbie Foster, 45, was sentenced to 24 months in drug court and 48 hours of community service last week. She was arrested last June on drug possession and distribution charges. A co-defendant appeared as a spectator during sentencing.
Foster was arrested in Dolores on June 11, 2014, after authorities found her in possession of 3.5 grams of meth.
Son stabs mom's boyfriend
A Dolores man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to felony menacing in the stabbing of his mother's boyfriend.
Out of custody, Daniel Schiess, 27, was arrested for stabbing a 41-year-old man in the chest in September, after he was repeatedly punched in the face. Prosecutors have said Schiess may have legitimate self-defense claims at trial, and that the alleged victim didn't want to press charges.
The court tentatively accepted the deal. Sentencing is Aug. 7.
Plea deal reached in drug, trespass case
A Dolores man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to trespass and drug charges.
In custody, Marlon Cruzan, 47, entered a plea agreement that could include 18 months in jail when sentenced on Aug. 7. The court tentatively accepted the plea deal and ordered Cruzan to be screened for drug court.
Cruzan has remained in custody under a $3,000 bond since his November arrest. He was initially charged with burglary and theft, and drug, weapon and tampering charges in separate incidents occurring last fall.
Cruzan rejected a similar plea deal in December.
