The bats came alive for the Dove Creek Bulldogs on Tuesday.
After not swinging a bat for nearly three weeks, Dove Creek broke open a close game in the fourth inning with four runs at Ignacio. The end result was a 9-6 opening league road win for Ken Sopers Bulldogs.
Our kids probably played the best game they played all year. We had an errorless ball game. They looked good, Soper said.Hopefully, it will give them some confidence. Thats what they needed.
Dove Creek (2-4, 1-0 2A/1A San Juan Basin League) avenged its 12-2 loss to Ignacio (1-5, 0-1 SJBL) on March 17 in a huge way with 11 hits.
I dont know if that helped them getting a rest and coming back. I just hope we can continue to be consistent, Soper said. A lot of times, thats hard to do with an inexperienced team. They fielded good and hit good. Dalton Randolph won it (pitching). He went the distance and looked the best he has all year.
Randolph got the win on the mound with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Dalton Davis led the Bulldogs hitting 4-for-5, while Klancey Krafka and Alex Ogas each went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Dove Creek remains on the road at league foe Nucla on Saturday at 11 a.m.
