Under the supervision of the local branch of the American Red Cross, work will begin shortly on the manufacture of clothing for needy families of the county. The material is furnished by the Red Cross and the work for this community will be done by local people at the Dolores High School building. No material not made up into garments will be given out.

Clyde Gelwick, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gelwich of this place, and a graduate of Dolores high school, participated in the first game of the Colorado University team at Golden Saturday when the boys from Boulder defeated the School of Mines team 31 to 0.

G. D. Taylor has a crew rushing work on completion of his big potato storage cellar on the Dunlap place. The cellar is to be 40 feet wide, 100 feet long and ten feet high, in the clear, sufficiently large to store several cars of potatoes and admit any ordinary size truck for loading and unloading.

Mr. and Mrs. Neal Sanders of La Jara attednded a meeting Sunday evening of ex-service men in Alamosa. Twenty-five veterans were present and decided to form an organization of Veterans of Foreign wars.

A crowd of folks from Hallar camp came near having a serious accident on the bridge near the Manaugh place Monday. Mike Spyers and one of the highway contractors and their ladies were in the car, headed east. Two wheels of the car missed the narrow bridge and the car balanced on the under structure just ready to topple into the deep arroya. A wrecker was called and with the help of another machine, the camp car was pulled out of its bad predicament. This is a particularly dangerous spot and has already claimed one life.

A party consisting of S. F. Hyde, H. L. Owens, Mrs. M. A. Meenan, James Wade and John Lill drove up to Telluride Sunday and inspected the Columbine property near Vance Junction. Mr. Owens has had considerable experience as a mining engineer and is going to make a report n the property soon. Mr. Lill is a practical miner and he says the property looks good to him.

Lloyd Stroud and wife came in Monday from their home at Uniontown, Kansas and are visiting at the Albert Stroud home. The men are brothers.

Miss Lilie Dunham spent the weekend at the cow camp on calf Creek, returning Monday morning. She spent Sunday riding with her father and enjoying the fine autumn day.
