At the regular Rico Town Board meeting held on Oct. 17, under public comment, Keith Lindauer shared with the Town Board that Scott Livesay is proposing to create two independent business in the Mercantile Building located at 14 South Glasgow Avenue within the Rico Historical District. On the south side of the building Mr. Livesay is proposing to build a greenhouse that is attached to the building.
Dick Lanning reported that he applied to the Rico Center or a grant for the ice rink. A letter of support was requested from the Town. The Town Board stated that the minutes of Sept. 19says the Town Board is in favor of the ice rink in the park again and that Mr. Lanning can attach the minutes to the grant application.
Mr. Lanning mentioned that the maintenance shed was built back in 1920s and that this shed can become a historical building.
The broadcasting of the town meetings will be delayed for another month.
Town Clerk Linda Yellowman stated she included a copy of the Dolores County Development and Land Use Regulations. At the Sept. 24Dolores County Planning Commission, they reviewed the regulations and moved their recommendation for approval to the Dolores County Commissioners. So any comments the Town might have, the Town Board may sent them to the Commissioners. The Public Hearing is on Nov. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the County Courthouse in Dove Creek.
Ms. Yellowman reported six nominating petitions went out. One for Mayor and five for Board of Trustees. The deadline to turn them in is Oct. 12. Gregg Anderson turned in his petition for Mayor. For Board of Trustees so far Gary Reid and Susan Robertson turned their petitions in.
The regular Town Board meeting for November was rescheduled to Nov. 14, instead of the third Wednesday due to Thanksgiving.
The Rico Town Clerk of the Town of Rico has duly certified that at the close of business on the 18th day before the election to be conducted on Nov. 6, 2012, there is not more than 6 offices of Board of Trustees to be filled and 1 office for Mayor including the candidates filing Affidavits on Intent to be write-in candidates. The Town Clerk has authorized cancellation of the election and declares the candidates elected and such candidates shall be deemed elected. The following candidate deemed elected for Mayor is Gregory Anderson. For Board of Trustees are Joseph Corey, James Kahn, David Kunz, Gary Reid and Susan Robertson.
Public Works report was submitted. The reports stated that a new starter in the loader was put in and repaired the brake lights. A new block heater was put in on the John Deere grader. Changed oil and filters on the loader and grader also checked equipment antifreeze. Mr. Swank found and worked on a water meter that had small leaks. Helped some summer residents with their water shut offs. Staff replaced a water meter for the State Highway Department. The outside lights have been repaired at the courthouse. The town flushed the water line from the water plant to the head gates. Town Staff found a 2006 John Deere backhoe in Durango and thats within the towns budget. Mr. Swank will have more information at the meeting.
